Our Commitment to Accessibility

Care4Caregivers is dedicated to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We actively work to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Accessibility Measures We Have Taken

The following measures have been implemented to support accessibility on this website:

  • Skip to main content link at the top of every page for keyboard users
  • Semantic HTML5 landmarks: header, nav, main, footer, section, aside
  • All images include descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes
  • All form fields have associated visible labels and error messages announced to screen readers
  • Keyboard navigation is fully supported across all interactive elements
  • Focus indicators are clearly visible on all interactive elements
  • Color contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA standards (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • The HTML lang attribute is set to 'en' on every page
  • ARIA roles and attributes are used where native HTML semantics are insufficient
  • Mobile navigation menu is keyboard accessible with focus trapping and Escape key support
  • Animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query
  • Page titles are descriptive and unique across the site
  • Links have descriptive text that makes sense out of context

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may still present challenges:

  • Third-party embedded content (such as external links and resources) may not fully meet accessibility standards, as we do not control those external websites.
  • PDF documents linked from this site may not be fully accessible to all screen readers. We are working to provide accessible alternatives.

Assistive Technologies Supported

This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • High contrast display modes
  • Voice recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
