Processing Complex Emotions

It's normal to experience a wide range of emotions, love, frustration, guilt, resentment, sadness, and hope. All of these feelings are valid. Give yourself permission to feel without judgment.

Finding Professional Support

Consider working with a therapist who specializes in caregiver issues. Narrative therapy, in particular, can help you process your story and find meaning in your experience.

Coping with Grief and Loss

Caregiving often involves ongoing losses, loss of the person you knew, loss of your former life, loss of dreams. Acknowledge these losses and allow yourself to grieve while continuing to move forward.
